One of the many opportunities that FBLA members are able to take advantage of is the Business Achievement Awards (BAA). The BAAs are made up of individual activities that revolve around the three words on the FBLA crest: Service, Education, and Progress. There are four levels that members can achieve: Future, Business, Leader, and America. Each level builds on the previous levels, and they must be completed in order. The Future and Business levels focus on local level involvement, whereas the Leader and America level require a greater involvement in FBLA. Members who complete the Future or Business levels receive their pins from their chapter adviser. Members who complete the Leader level receive their pin at the State Leadership Conference, and members who complete the America level receive their pin at the National Leadership Conference.
This year, there have been several changes to the BAA program. More activities have been added at every level, and more activities are required at each level. Many of the new activities are related to technology and environmental awareness. These new changes make the program slightly harder, but dedicated members are still able to complete each level.
To get started, members must have their adviser create an account for them and then send them the login information. This is done on the national FBLA website, which is www.fbla-pbl.org. After that, members may sign in and complete the activities at the level they are signed up for. Many of the activities require a summary or description of what was done to complete the activity. The activities don?t have to be done in the year that the member is doing the BAA; they can be from previous years in FBLA. Once finished, the member indicates on their BAA page that he or she is done, and then he or she must go and tell their adviser to submit the verification that he or she is done. After this, the member may try to achieve the next level of the BAA, but he or she must his or her adviser to create another account for the next level. Everything must be submitted by March 1st in order for the member to receive their award.
If members are interested, there is more information on the national website. It is here that all work is done. There is no paperwork. The BAAs are truly a great program that all members should take advantage of.
